Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA)
The Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 aims to promote comprehensive Performance Management throughout federal departments and agencies. The legislation’s primary intent was to increase people’s confidence in their federal government by improving the performance of agencies and programs, and by providing for greater accountability for program results.
Under GPRA, major Federal agencies are required to set goals consistent with their mission, measure performance, and report on their accomplishments.
Clinger-Cohen Act
The Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 requires Federal agencies to link IT investments to agency accomplishments. It also requires agency heads to establish a process to select, manage and control their IT investments, and develop IT performance measures.
